Teerenstra Shipyard in Den Helder is a well known facility also offering a a 100t travel lift as well as a sheltered dock place to carry out work inside a hall while the vessel is still afloat. The yard predominantly focuses on grit blasting and painting /conserving but is renowned for its solution-oriented approach to a variety of requests, making it a favored choice for a range of vessels.

Navigation
Navigation is straightforward entering first the protection of the large harbour basin before passing the opening bridge and the Koopvaardersschutsluis lock. Be aware of in and outgoing other vessels, also larger military and commercial vessels. In front of the harbour in the Texel Strom there is ferry traffic to Texel leaving from the ferry harbour on the outside. There can be a strong side setting current, in front of the harbour, depending on the tide.
Berths
Berthing availability can be requested from the office, both on land and in the water. And if you ask, you will probably be able to borrow a bike from the yard to get around in town.
Surroundings
Around Teerenstra Shipyard you'll find numerous services and equipment stores, all supported by friendly staff and fellow marine enthusiasts. To the south, Buijtendijk offers an extensive selection of professional tools, including a wide variety of stainless steel bolts and screws. For hydrolic and piping specific items, the Complete Store in Het Nieuwe Werk specializes in marine piping and hose equipment.
Just south of Willemsoord, "Vaarshop van Kalsbeek" presents a prime selection for recreational boating, including an array of NV Charts products.
All establishments are complemented by approachable and knowledgeable staff, eager to aid vessels with their requirements.
If you have a dinghy in the water, you might want to row over to the "De Groene Stek". A Ekologikal little community farm that offers lovely seasonal vegetables, and has a dinghy dock.
