From WP 103 in the fairway of the former ferry port, steer 185° until you recognize the entrance on the west side of the island harbour, which you should head east towards.

NV Land Guide

The port of Wackerballig is located in the village of Gelting and is more convenient than the Gelting marina (see also Gelting). The special feature of the harbor is its location far out into the water. Nevertheless, the harbor office, sanitary facilities and bistro are located on a customer-friendly floating pontoon directly in the southern part of the harbor. A 250 meter long wooden walkway connects the piers with the "mainland". A campsite near the beach hotel close to the harbor keeps things busy here in summer. Between the jetty and the hotel, the beach with its shallow water can be described as child-friendly to a certain extent.

One plus point of the village of Wackerballig, which consists of just a few houses, is that there is no through traffic here. The road coming from Gelting, which is around two kilometers long, ends here. Wackerballig is therefore a quiet place. An excursion to the Geltinger Birk nature reserve, past the "Charlotte" mill, is highly recommended. Incidentally, the harbor lighthouse is no longer used for shipping: It offers a weather-protected vantage point over the bay.

Jenny und Werner haben mit fleißigen Helfer:innen alles gesichert zum Jahrhunderthochwasser, was ging. 2m über Normal ist schon erschreckend gewesen. Nur diesen tollen, einsatzbereiten Menschen haben wir zu verdanken, dass im Hafen kaum etwas zu Schaden kam. Ein herzliches Dankeschön an das beherzte Hafenteam, das alles gegeben hat! Da bleiben wir und können Wackerballig nur empfehlen.

Hafenmeisterin Jenny ist klasse und bietet Brötchenservice von sehr guter Landbäckerei Ohm an. Sanitäranlagen in gutem Zustand und sehr sauber. Bistro auf dem Steg ist leider wieder geschlossen ist, hoffenlich wird bald wieder ein neuer Pächter gefunden. Gastronomie am Strandhaus ist völlig in Ordnung, ansonsten empfiehlt sich auch mal ein kleiner Spaziergang zu den nahen Restaurants in Gelting Mole/Hunhoi/Lehbeck.

Wackerballig bietet alles was das Seglerherz begehrt. Gute Restaurants in direkter Nähe, Bademöglichkeiten für Groß und Klein und eigentlich immer genügend freie Plätze. Die Sonnenuntergänge und die Hafenmeisterin verdienen eh die Wertung 1 mit Sternchen 😊
